Sports Injury Therapy

Why do I need Sports Injury Therapy?

If you’ve sustained an injury and aim to return to your sport, Sports Injury Therapy offers the most comprehensive and specialized recovery approach. During sports participation, athletes experience complex biomechanical forces that differ significantly from everyday movement. Each sport demands unique physical capabilities e.g. sprinters generate intense horizontal force for acceleration, while basketball players must produce powerful vertical force for explosive jumps.

Sports require specific energy systems to be precisely conditioned, and athletes typically have an established performance workload that must be carefully reintegrated after an injury. Our Sports Therapists and Sports Rehabilitators are evidence-based practitioners who specialize in nuanced injury recovery, considering these intricate sporting demands.

Beyond standard physiotherapy, our approach goes further by identifying and correcting underlying biomechanical imbalances. The ultimate goal is twofold: to return you to your sport (A) completely injury-free and (B) at a higher performance level than before your injury. This means not just healing, but strategically rebuilding your athletic capability with scientific precision and sport-specific expertise.

What is Sports Injury Therapy? How does it work?

Sports injury therapy is targeted treatment that is tailored to the needs of people that engage in regular exercise or sport.

Who is Sports Injury Therapy for?

Sports injury therapy is for physically active people that are either looking to return to the activities and sports they love, or to improve their physical and athletic performance

Who is Sports Injury Therapy NOT for?

Sports injury therapy is not a good fit for people that have little to no interest in improving their physical health, wellbeing and athletic performance.

Why is Sports Injury Therapy very important?

It is a different treatment modality which a lot of people respond very well to, especially when you get closer to returning to your sports and activities.

What are the components of a Sports Injury Therapy Assessment & Follow Up?

Similarly to Physiotherapy, your assessment will include a comprehensive history and physical examination of the injured or affected area which will lead us towards a working diagnosis of the potential injury or dysfunction that is present.
Once we have a working diagnosis, we set up a timeline of goals and milestones to aim towards in order to return to your chosen sport or activity.
Follow up appointments often focus on advancing your treatment, developing and modifying exercises to ensure you are always on track throughout your injury recovery.
