Sports Massage

Why do I need Sports Massage?

Whether you’re healing from an injury, training for a sports event, or simply aiming to avoid injury and eager to maintain optimal muscle condition, our sports massage therapy is an ideal choice. We suggest having a sports massage every 4-6 weeks; injury or not! It’s a fantastic way to identify areas of tension and muscle weakness, allowing us to guide you on preventing future injuries.

What is Sports Massage? How does it work?

Sports massage is a specialised therapy for active individuals and athletes, focused on improving performance, preventing injuries, and aiding recovery. It uses techniques like deep tissue massage, specialised stretching, and trigger point therapy to enhance the function of muscles and soft tissues involved in physical activity

Who is Sports Massage for?

Sports massage is mostly beneficial for active individuals and athletes that are looking to improve their physical performance, improve their recovery time between training sessions and events, and reduce muscle soreness. It is also of help for those who have a sedentary lifestyle, or have an occupation that involves frequent awkward or static positions. Sports massage tackles the tightness and restores mobility.

Who is Sports Massage NOT for?

Sports massage is less suitable for people with acute injuries, infectious skin conditions, blood clotting disorders, uncontrolled cardiovascular conditions, those with illness or a fever, and during pregnancy (unless your therapist has had specialised training).

Why can Sports Massage be very important?

Sports massage has been used within professional sports environments for decades to enhance the recovery aspect of sports performance, whilst other treatment modalities have come and gone, massage has stood the test of time. Muscle recovery aside, having time for yourself can work wonders for your mental health and wellbeing.

What are the components of a Sports Massage Assessment & Follow Up?

  1.  Similarly to our other services, a health questionnaire is completed prior to your appointment. This means your therapist is informed of your prior health and injury history to ensure the treatment they deliver is bespoke to your needs, and importantly get hands on as fast as possible, cutting the questions!

During the session?
Follow up appointments involve a brief catch up to see how you are progressing since your previous session and to discuss any new or current areas of concern for the focus of the session.
